Today, theSkimm launched its third No Excuses campaign. And we’re so excited to tell you all about it. Time to get your head in the healthcare game.

How did we get here again?

No Excuses started with the election. With our first campaign, we wanted everyone to feel informed before voting— and then actually go out there and vote. We were blown away by the results — over 110,000 of you registered to vote.

And then came Election Day and the inauguration. There was a lot of talk about what changes President Trump’s administration would bring. So we decided to continue No Excuses with a new focus to help tackle the issues driving the national conversation.

Enter: No Excuses: Immigration. We wanted you to know the facts about immigration — how the system got to be where it is today, what both sides of the aisle are saying, and to participate in the conversation. And you did. We brought together Skimm’bassadors from all over the country to have real discussions around a dinner table. And theSkimm’s version of the citizenship test was taken more than 500,000 times.

After No Excuses: Immigration, we were so impressed by our audience’s passion to truly understand issues driving the news cycle and take action. The emails and feedback just kept coming. We got emails from a lot of you basically building a healthcare campaign for us. Thanks for the tip.

Some of the questions flooding our inbox were: How does health insurance actually work? What is it really costing me? What exactly is Obamacare? Why don’t Republicans like it? Are they really defunding Planned Parenthood? How will all of this affect me?

Enter: No Excuses: Healthcare

Why is this a big deal?

Because theSkimm’s mission is to make it easier to live a smarter life. And this time, we’re getting personal. Part of living a smarter life is taking charge of your own health. That doesn’t just mean going to the doctor. It means understanding what health coverage you have, what you want now, what you would want for your children, and how that matches policies being discussed. And we don’t just want to give you the info you need to understand and join the conversation, we want to give you the tools you need to take action.

In our latest Skimm Study, we asked our Skimm’rs to tell us how they felt about healthcare today.

They told us their questions.

They told us their fears.

They lent us their voices. Literally.

Here is what we learned:

  • Healthcare is the No. 1 issue millennial women care about right now — ranking above education, terrorism, climate change, gun control, and immigration.
  • They are not happy with their health insurance but rely on it for access to reproductive care, and they are worried for the future.
  • Since Trump was elected, 21% of millennial women on birth control have changed, or are thinking about changing their method.
  • 50% are concerned about the recent bill that passed in the House, and just 14% are excited about it.
  • The system is broken for millennial women because of high costs, confusion, and gaps in coverage.
  • 2/3 of millennial women have been without healthcare coverage at some point, and 21% are without it right now.

Healthcare is something that affects every single one of us — whether you want to think about it or not. By the end of this campaign:

  • We want to make sure you know the key players involved in healthcare, and what role they play in the issue.
  • We want you to know more about the history of healthcare in America, and how we got to where we are today.
  • We want you to know how to answer the basic (and not so basic) questions about your personal health care.
  • We want you to understand the difference between PPOs and EPOs. And HSAs. And FSAs. H-M-Oh boy.
  • We want to make sure you know more about what the President’s plans will mean.
  • We want you to go to the doctor. Literally. We’re making it easier for our audience to book appointments.

Oh, and we made you a calendar in our app to help you keep track of those appointments. And to remind you when to make more. Everything from scheduling an annual physical, to saying “ahhhh” at the dentist, to heading to the OB/GYN for, you know, your vajayjay. Because adulting is hard, but there is No Excuse not to take charge of your own health care.
